Photographs from
"The Wonder of It All"

Commentary by Ralph Marston

Five of the photographs in the presentation are my own. They're the ones shown on this page. The others are from a royalty-free clip art collection published by Nova Development Corp.

This photograph of a graceful old tree is one I took while walking in the woods behind our house in Austin, Texas. It was during one such walk that I got the idea for "The Wonder of It All" presentation and for using the title of the presentation as part of the title of my new book, "Living the Wonder of It All." This photograph also appears on the cover of the book.

This picture is of a very prolific yaupon holly tree in our back yard. It was taken on a sunny day in early December when the berries were at their peak. Where we live, on the edge of the Texas Hill Country in northwest Austin, yaupon holly (Ilex vomitoria) is a native plant and there are numerous individual yaupon holly trees growing naturally in the wooded area of our yard -- including one that's almost 20 feet tall!

This photo was taken on one of my walks in our neighborhood in early November as the leaves were beginning to turn. I believe this is a Chinaberry tree.

This sunrise photograph was taken from our bedroom window on a misty morning in late September.
This is my favorite photo, and is also used on the back cover of the book. Although we live well within the city of Austin, our property adjoins a 50-acre greenbelt that runs through a hill country canyon. There's a wonderful hiking trail along a quiet creek with springs, waterfalls, soaring bluffs and such. This photo was taken on a section of the trail on a morning in early November.
